How to Run an Online Game Night with Friends

Choose the format before choosing the games. Duemello private rooms connect two devices, which works for two friends or two teams. A larger group can watch, swap the person controlling a device, and use a separate group call.

Choose a format that fits the room

For two people, connect directly and take turns normally. For a group, create two teams and agree who controls each device. Duemello does not provide a separate connected player slot for every person in a large group.

Start with a short rules explanation

Pick Four-ever or Ping-pong Picnic and explain the finish: four in a row or first to five points. A quick opening round helps everybody understand what is happening.

Change the kind of challenge

Follow the opening with Doodle Together or a science quiz. For trivia, let each team discuss its answer before the person with the controls selects it. Keep any team score yourselves.

Keep the invitation private

Share the room link only with the intended player. If you are streaming or sharing a screen publicly, keep the invitation and any personal details out of view.

Have a fallback

If a connection becomes unreliable, take turns on a shared screen or switch to a prompt-based activity on your call. Real-time room play needs both devices to stay connected.

A family game night

This plan uses a memory game, a drawing prompt and a small puzzle. It works around one screen or two connected devices, with people taking turns rather than needing an account each.
